1. I haven’t got an advert, what do I do

We’re happy to help with your advert. We’ll talk you through the steps, get some details from you and then our graphic designer will create an advert for you – for only £15.00 (+vat) for your first advert.

2. When do I pay for my advert

For your first booking with us, it’s payment with order, by the deadline date for the month of your advert at the very latest,
paid direct to our bank account please.

3. How long have Hurst Publications been in business

We started with our first edition in November 2005, at that time it was Carolyne Hurst trading as Hurst Publishing.
We became Hurst Publications Ltd on 2nd October 2014.

4. How many copies get delivered

A total of 25,000 per month: Banstead 5300, Epsom 7200, Ewell & Stoneleigh 12500

5. When is the magazine delivered

Deliveries start around the 9th of the month.

6. Where is the magazine delivered to

Nearly all copies get delivered to homes in the area, plus some go to local shops. If you’d like a map showing the roads that are distributed to, please contact us and we’ll email you a copy

7. How do I know the copies are delivered

This is an essential part of our service. Our Connections magazines are delivered by Three Colours, a long-established specialist leaflet and magazine distribution company. A team is allocated to each Connection area and works alongside a supervisor who monitors the deliveries as they happen. Each individual distributor carries a GPS tracker, creating ‘maps’ of the deliveries to ensure a reliable and traceable service.

8. What are premium pages

These are the outside and inside of the front and back covers, plus pages 3 and 5. They are usually booked quite a way in advance.

9. What success do advertisers have

We do have a very high numbers of advertisers who renew their booking, month to month, so we’d hope that reflects the success they have.
Based on March 2020 the average advert renewal rate (averaged across the three editions) was 89.3%.

10. Can I change the advert in a later month

Yes, as long as we have the artwork by the deadline date.

11. Can I advertise in 1 or 2 or 3 editions

Yes, just let us know which edition or editions you require your advert to be in.

12. Can I change which edition the advert is in

Yes, just confirm which edition before the deadline date

13. What file format of my advert can I send

PDF or Jpeg files are fine. We may be able to work from a Word document or a Publisher file, but would need to check first. If you’re not sure if the file you have is suitable we’re happy to check it for you, just email it over. The resolution of the file should be a minimum of 300dpi. Please make sure you own or have the right to use the copyright of any previously created designs or images

14. If Hurst Publications design an advert for me, can I use it elsewhere

The copyright of adverts designed by us belong to Hurst Publications Ltd and cannot be used elsewhere without the permission of
Hurst Publications Ltd, plus a release fee may be charged

15. Are the deadlines flexible

Not usually. After the deadline we have magazine assembly, checking and proofing to complete.
The printing and delivery timetables are agreed in advance so our print and distribution suppliers can schedule their resources.
